5 More Children Die from Measles and Measles-like Symptoms

In the last 24 hours, five more children have died across the country from measles and measles-like symptoms. According to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths from this disease has now risen to 610 this year.

Among these, at least 91 children died after measles was confirmed through laboratory tests. Additionally, 519 children died with measles-like symptoms.

According to the directorate’s report, from Thursday (June 4) 8 AM to Friday (June 5) 8 AM, 1,168 people were admitted to hospitals nationwide with measles-like symptoms. Of these, measles infection was confirmed in 243 individuals through laboratory tests.

An analysis of the statistics shows that so far this year, at least 91 children have died from confirmed measles cases, while another 519 children died with measles-like symptoms. This brings the cumulative death toll to 610.
