Iran and Israel Announce Halt to Attacks

New instability was created in West Asia due to the attacks between Israel and Iran. Responding to the call of US President Donald Trump, Iran and Israel have announced a suspension of violence and retaliatory attacks.

Iran and Israel made this announcement on Monday (June 8), according to AFP.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the conflict is now under control. This came hours after Tehran announced a halt to its military actions.

On Monday, Tehran announced a temporary cessation of attacks. However, the country also stated that if Israel attacks Iran or Lebanon again, it would retaliate.

The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran’s top military command, had stated this in a release.

New tensions erupted in the Middle East last Sunday night after two months, due to the exchange of attacks between Israel and Iran. The retaliatory attacks continued on Monday morning.

Trump had appealed to both countries to stop the attacks via a message on Truth Social, attempting to de-escalate the ongoing conflict. In another post, Trump also mentioned that Iran and Israel were immediately trying to implement a ceasefire.

Following this, the announcement of a temporary halt to attacks by Iran and Israel came. Quoting a senior Israeli official, Israeli media reported that Israel stopped its attacks against Iran at Trump’s request.
