Tamim Iqbal Elected Director with Highest Votes in BCB Election

Former national team captain Tamim Iqbal has been elected as a director to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Executive Committee, securing the highest number of votes in the recent elections. In the election held on Sunday (June 7) at the BCB office in Mirpur, he topped the list with 73 votes.

Voting took place from 10 AM to 4 PM, with results announced in the evening. A total of 16 candidates contested from the Club Category, out of which 12 directors were elected.

Besides Tamim Iqbal, the other elected members include Masuduzzaman, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khosru, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Shahniyan Tanim, Fahim Sinha, Yasir Faisal, Asif Rabbany, Dr. Mahbub Shamim, and Sakib Ahmed Salam.

Following Tamim in terms of votes, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khosru jointly secured the second-highest tally with 72 votes each. Masuduzzaman received 70 votes, Yasir Faisal 68 votes, Fahim Sinha and Shahniyan Tanim 66 votes each, Asif Rabbany 64 votes, and Yasir Abbas 63 votes.

On the other hand, Borhanul Pappu, Amjad Hossain, Faizur Mitu, and Major Imroz Ahmed were defeated in the elections. Their respective vote counts were 40, 32, 23, and 20.

Through these elections, 12 directors, including Tamim Iqbal, a familiar face in the country’s cricketing arena, have secured their places on the new BCB Executive Committee.
